Several hundred family members gathered this morning at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix to welcome more than 250 new U.S. Citizens. For the 27th consecutive year, immigration and U.S. District Court officials have coordinated with the community college and leaders in the South Mountain/Laveen villages to swear in new citizens on or near the Fourth of July Holiday. At today’s ceremony, more than 60 different countries were represented as the citizens recited their pledge of loyalty to their new country. Boy Scout Troop 244 and Cub Scout Pack 244 from Laveen were the Color Guard at the day’s ceremony.
